I know Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed
It compares two given/known cities.

I am looking for a website where I would input a city (the one I currently live in and for which I understand the COL stats in relation to my personal numbers, and I would be "recommended" a similar city(ies) by the website (database).
I understand 2 cities are not the same, but I'm looking for a close match on cost of living (So, if I live in an 85 overall COL at Sperling's, I need a list of similar cities (give or take 3 points)) that I could further look at (weather, crime, health, education, transp. etc). Thanks.

Ok, let me make it more clear: I do not want to compare A to B, or A to C, but rather say: "here's my A city; based on its COL, give me a list of comparable B, C, D". I do not want to go thru 25 cities (throwing darts at the map) and find out none is close to my reference city. I want a website that would spit out that info based on the city I enter.

I'm not sure if there is a site like that, but if you give the city that you live in, you might be able to get an answer here.

This is my suggestion, as many other sites will most likely be deleted in the post by a moderator due to their being competing sites, and posting competing site URLs isn't permitted here.

Not exactly what you want but maybe useful still. Kiplinger isn't a competing site is it? They have a decent COL 2009 index by city.
Kiplinger

I don't think there are going to be any sites that are just going to spoon feed this type of information to you

I would say the only tough things about that list is that it is just a general view of the metro area. You'll have communities within that metro that vary and that is also something to consider if you want a similar type of community in your new area.
