Hey all. Here's an opportunity to pitch your town!

I'm looking for a city (anywhere South of the Ohio, and East of the Colorado/OK border) where I can land a halfway decent job in banking.

I have a BS in Business good grades etc. and want to leave Buffalo for warmer weather and lower taxes. The issue is Business degrees are a dime a dozen at this point. But I'm sure that some places just don't get the volume that a place like Buffalo does for real low jobs.

If your city has lots of for hire signs in the banks, and seems welcoming to someone who wants to relocate, please let me know. (and if you know of a specific bank with openings, I'd love to hear)

Also, I have about $6000 to live off, so getting there isn't the issue, the only criteria beside the geographic one is there has to be a decent singles population as I am 22 and ready to get serious…

Supposedly Omaha has had a good job market, don't know about banking though. Or the singles market.

I know its not exactly south of the Ohio, but it sits right on it. Cincinnati's job market is doing well, and is home to a good amount of banks and large companies. I would also look into Nashville or Atlanta.

Apparently Texas is (or at least was, last I heard) the state with the best economy right now. Might be worth a look. It's also pretty affordable.

Raleigh-Durham, NC is doing pretty well. Also try Nashville, Charlotte, Houston, and Dallas. Atlanta was doing well in the 1990s, but now has a nearly 11% unemployment rate.

Awesome! All great advice. Cincy's close enough I heard that NC is flooded with resumes from people trying to escape this good ol' Northern Socialism. I'll certainly take a look at Nashville, Cincy, and Omaha.

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone know about some more medium cities (Lexington, Charleston, Knoxville, Huntsville, etc?)

Judging by this post, it sounds like you'd probably enjoy places like Jackson, MS, Memphis, Columbia, SC, Amarillo, TX, and Oklahoma City. All of those cities are VERY conservative.
