Where is a better place overall to live. I'm looking for a more conservative area with cheaper land and some property. Both cacti and palm trees interest me, but I don't know which area's better. I wouldn't live right in any of the cities though. For AZ, I'd be looking into the Apache Junction area. For FL, I'd be looking around Ponte Verde Beach or Palm Valley. Thanks.
Do you like hot and dry or hot and humid? Personally, if I were going to live in a hot climate, I would prefer Arizona to Florida, and I've spent plenty of time all over both, including spending time in both during the summer heat. Florida has the ocean close by if that's important - but Arizona has the mountain areas - depends what you like.
I'm very much what some people would call a liberal and I love it in AZ. However, it's very pro-gun rights, republican, et cetera. Joe Arpaio loving, tea party types are plentiful and tend to run the state gov't. Look at what's going on with the state legislature run by republicans. And don't even tell anybody you voted for Obama in Yavapai county.

There are definitely many palm trees in the Phoenix area; however, the area is not as lush as Jacksonville. Now would be a good time to buy a house in Phoenix if you're looking for something really inexpensive.
