Chicago has very good public transportation. I didn't get to ride on it though when I was there last weekend. We mostly took taxis, our rental van, or walked.

There are several cities with good--or even very good--public transportation in the U.S., but if the question is "which city's is the best?" then nothing comes close to NYC.

Your Joking right , Omaha & Birmingham , Indy only have Buses and a small system at that. Dallas is the only system on your list that is expanding fast and is great already. LA is right behind , but will overtake Dallas by 2015 in system size terms. Miami is a few lines and nothing more.

Food for thought: New York City has more train riders than every other city in the USA combined!

Other than NYC, I would say:

Chicago, DC, Boston, Philly

Wow, amazing statistic. Thanks a lot for the information.

I would agree with your list, but would add San Francisco into the mix.
