[disregard the description, that's the Springfield skyline]
Thanks for the correction, I have updated the title now.

If you look very closely in the middle of the picture, the US Capitol in Washington, DC is visible to the distance.

Our skyline is visible for at least 25 miles in any direction. It depends on if you're on open water, a bridge, or on land. It could be further since you have to be 60+ miles out to encounter hills.

I am from the Chicago area and I go swimming in Lake Bluff Beach in Lake Bluff, IL. Last summer I was there on a very clear day, and I was able to see the Sears Tower, Trump Tower, AON Tower, and John Hancock Center from the beach, which is about 37 MILES north of the city. You can't see it anywhere but on the beach, though, because there are too many trees in the way. I will have to take a picture next time I go. Cool thread!

I love driving into Las Vegas on I-15 from the north at night. You cut through a mountain pass, and then all the lights just spread out in front of you.

I can't see the DC skyline from DC.

Best view is flying into Reagan National airport on the river visual approach, and you have to look up out of the plane window to see the top of the Washington Monument.

Here is Atlantic City from Ocean City NJ

From Strathmere NJ (Further South) ~20 miles

There is a tower about 90 miles from Chicago (driving distance) from which you can see the skyline.
