Come on people, how many skyline debates can you have. How many LA vs NYC threads can you discuss...We all live close to Major Cities, let's hear it. I can see MPLS up to 25 miles away. I want to hear what you NYC obsessers have to say. You can probably only see LA's from 2 miles with all their pollution. Houston and Atlanta people think their skylines are so rad, well from how far away can you see it?

Well, you have to take the rolling topography and heavy tree cover into consideration in North Georgia, so it varies greatly.
On a crisp, clear fall day I have seen the Atlanta skyline from the mountains approx. 65 miles to the North.
I used to work on the 5th floor of a building 36 miles NE of the city (on a ridge, mind you), and could see 4 of our 5 skylines clearly.
Oh yeah, I guess I really never thought about that - not too many hills here in MN, LOL. I love the Atlanta Skyline (from what I've seen). I want to see it in person someday.

And I was blown away by the Twin Cities the only time I was there. Flying in at night was only the first hint. The drive into Downtown MPS really did blow me away.
You can see the NYC skyline in A LOT of the NJ suburbs. Hackensack St (Running from East Rutherford to Hasbrouck Heights) has some great views since the street runs along side a cliff.
When I lived in Hackensack (8 miles from Manhattan) I could see the skyline in a few elevated spots (hilltop/sloping streets). I was able to see much of the NYC skyline from my physics class at the Hackensack HS.
You're able to see the NYC skyline from any city/town in Hudson County. They have some of the best views in the NYC metro if anything.
All the Meadowland towns (Lyndhurst, Rutherford, East Rutherford, Secaucus, Kearny, etc) you're able to see the skyline, especially on the highways since they're in the middle of marshland, so there's not much to block the view.
Newark has some spots if I remember correctly.
You can see the skyline from Paterson as well since it's pretty elevated out there.

^^That's because it's generally a lot hillier there. As a kid, I visited my dad's coworker often in NNJ. I don't remember which town though. They lived in a development that was a HUGE hill. Walking down it was really steep, and you had a really nice view of the skyline.
About .5 miles away from my house you can see the skyline from across from Worlds of Fun/OOF.
