That's true too, although when they told me where to look they said it would be really faint and I looked where they said to but couldn't see it. It was a pretty clear day but I guess the binoculars I had weren't powerful enough. The city was clear though to the naked eye, so was DT Winston-Salem, about 35 miles N of Salisbury. You can also see Grandfather Mountain, Pilot Mountain, and some other far out places I might have mentioned that already but pretty cool spot.

You can see Toronto more often than not from Oakville harbour (25miles), and can often see it (and Mississauga) from across Lake Ontario from Hamilton, ON to Olcott, NY and from the Niagara Escarpment from St Catharines, ON to Milton, ON. You can see Toronto from the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls and Niagara Falls from the CN Tower. Apparently you can even see the CN Tower from Buffalo (65miles). You can see Toronto from some of the hills in Caledon too (40 miles).

From Caledon (40miles)

Mississauga and Oakville from St Catharines

This is the GTA's various skylines. The high rises in the left are Clarkson and the high rises to the right is I believe Pickering 55miles away.

Here is a photo that John T. Roberts of the Architecture of Fort Worth board took in 2005 (The same photo Metro Matt referenced earlier in the thread). Dallas is some 45 miles away, Fort Worth about 14.

Here is the actual thread.

Thanks, John Roberts!

But unless you are on a hill or a high overpass like the one on 485 south of the city you really can't see it from very far away because it is hilly and heavily forested.
Here is a shot I found online from Grandfather moutain
