On a very clear day you can See Downtown Phoenix from about 40 miles out on I-10 heading into the West Valley from Buckeye. On clear days you can see it about 50 miles away to the east in the Mazatzal Mountains.
Detroit from Bald mountain and dutton rd (26 mi as the crow flies)
some say from Mt. Brighton Ski Area or Tower plaza in ann arbor (42 and 37 miles as the crow flies, respectively)
I wonder about pine knob? Ive seen it from the pontiac bank tower, 22 miles and from vining rd and i-94, 17.5 miles, both as the crow flies.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, Midland Tx can be seen easily from 20 to 25 miles away and the skyline isn't that tall really. But it will soon be much taller. There is a plan to build a 870ft (265m). tower in Midland. I found this thread because I was wondering from how far away that tower might be visible. According to Wolfram Alpha, maybe 35 to 40 miles or so.
Last one is Philadelphia from Reedy point Bridge, about 10 miles south of Del Memorial Bridge and about 35 miles from Philly. I don't think many people who cross the bridge notice the skyline; it's very small in person and hard to see even on a clear day.
I routinely travel across the Delaware Memorial and can always spot the Philly skyline as it appears beyond the Commodore Barry Bridge, as long as its a clear day.
Houston has way too many trees to be able to see it very far.
Dallas is easier because there are far less trees. On a clear night you can see downtown a good 30-35 miles away.
Is it ever possible to see the Houston skyline from Galveston?
