You can still see the St. Louis arch in the suburbs at least ~25 min drive away. Thats as far as I've tried to see it but I'm sure you can see from a tall building or hill even further out.

No, I have 2 friends who live in San Jose & my aunt used to live a stones throw away from the Golden Gate Bridge at The Presidio.

Actually, I think he does like SF, so that wasn't the issue. I just don't think he has spent much time here.
