Love the homes in the Palm Springs area...can afford around $400K...where else in the US can you find homes like this but in not in the desert...thanks
If by SoCal architecture you mean Spanish-style, then your options are somewhat limited, but they do exist. Arizona, Las Vegas, New Mexico, parts of Texas, suburban Colorado cities such as Denver and Colorado Springs, perhaps Salt Lake City suburban areas, and even the Tri-Cities of Washington State would have some of this architecture.
I'd direct you to Lakemoor Hills or West Hills in Knoxville - just a couple of places you might find the Modernist style among the trees. I imagine most cities have neighborhoods where these are found.
Exactly, you need to specify whether you mean the newer faux Mediterranean/Italian/Spanish mishmash boxy development homes, or the older spartan Mid Century Modern gems that were photographed by the renowned artist Julius Shulman.
I think so too. Loads of Spanish-Mediterrean architecture. Its the signature look of both Florida and Southern California and helps to give them a little special orginiality compared to most of the USA & Canada.
In addition, since the OP does not want a desert, and Florida is the exact opposite of a desert!
Parts of the Lone Star State would probably come next.
How about we all put our money together and buy this $54 million home on Lake Minnetonka?
I think it actually just sold, for much less than that...
It's the Pillsbury mansion.
