Well if someone is used to it, it's no big deal. But remember, she has a young kid. That will be a long drive, and that would also need to be an overnight trip if she wants to go to the beach.

That's true Corpus is 2 hours from San Antonio it's not as far as South Padre

She never said that, you did. The OP wanted to be close to water. That includes lakes, rivers, streams, etc. Maybe even pools and water parks. Remember she has a child. Ocean swimming can be a little ruff sometimes.

With all that in mind...Austin, San Antonio, and the Hill Country would surely fit the bill! And the coast is only a few hours away.
