In order to keep this thread on topic for General US, it must stick to geography and AVOID national politics and issues. The latter are only on topic in City-Data's Politics and Other Controversies forum.
Suggesting places that meet the OP's requirements is OK.
Suggesting that the OP's requirements are good/bad/smart/foolish/etc. or providing details to support any of those qualitative judgments is off topic in this forum.

Does anyone have any advise on a state that has good gun control laws, good education, is socially conscious of all of it's citizens? Maybe a democrat or two in the government? Some social services? I use to think MA, but now that they have two republicans in office I'm afraid their laws will soon resemble AZ's. Thanks

You should be quite happy in Washington, DC, or CA. Oh yes, for a city: NYC has very strict gun laws that apply only to law-abiding citizens.
On the serious side, Vermont, a very liberal State in all issues you have mentioned has very lax gun laws, and a very low rate of crime. Years ago in VT, if one didn't have gun at one's home, one was supposed to pay a $100.00 tax. I don't know if it's still in effect, however.

Hehe, the Constitution in VT says those against bearing arms should pay compensation to the state for not doing so. The legislature pretty much ignores that. One legislator proposed a bill some years ago to enforce it but it never passed...
