How do you feel about Nevada? As in: Nevayda, MO; the state of Nevahda; Nevaada? Three different pronuciations for the same word.

Or, how about Cairo? Cairo, Egypt; Kayro, IL.

Or, Palestine in the middle east; Palesteen in east Texas?

Or, my personal favorite: In Louisiana, we find Natchitoches. But, it's pronounced as Nagodish.

Wouldn't that be almost every place out there?
Are-Kansas just sounds wrong IMO
"New Orlins" is the closest most people will get to the official pronunciation (which isn't new or-leens) and definitely the local pronunciation.

For Northerners who don't know, it's pronounced ARkin-Saw. *important to not draw out the middle syllable....it's short*

Say it fast. Arkin-Saw. Now you've got it.
