I tried it in all different places in Maine, and it wasn't really ever that good.

Maybe so. I'm sure there are areas where a "deli" sells just the basics but in the Boston area, Delis are on par with the ones I've been in around NYC.

And you cannot forget Montreal. Delis, bagels, and most jewish foods that NYC thinks they own are also huge parts of Montreal culture.

Ok, well, the delis in Boston, Philly, and NY are probably more similar than anywhere else in the country.

I even pride the burgers around here (Jersey anyway, I.E. NJ has the most diners in the world), but there's a few metros with good burgers.
Chicago hot dog > NYC hot dog

One more thing I forget--hot pastrami sandwiches.

Omaha Steaks? lol. Had to say it. There are probably other places with great steak though.

I've never had a decent roast beef sandwich outside Boston's North Shore.

Luckily they're all over the place now. I love Omaha steaks--there's a store close by to me, and I just got like $150 worth of meat from there

And I agree about Philly cheesesteaks. There are a couple good places in Manhattan, but it can't compare to Pat's. They're good to hold me over until my next trip to Philly, lol.

The Philly Way’s authenticity is good enough that it was declared the best cheese steak outside of Philadelphia by no less an authority than Philadelphia Magazine.
