And have you been to Philly in order to compare it?
The 2 places in Manhattan are Zagat rated and have gotten similar reviews from Philadelphia newspapers. Doesn't mean it's as good as getting it in the famous cheese steak joints. |

Chowdah and Lobstah. That includes Boston all the way up the Maine coast though. Wicked good stuff.
Seafood in general just doesn't taste the same...but that's to be expected. Try eating some raw oysters after they've been away from the ocean for too long. It's just not right. You need to be able to taste the ocean water with that baby to get the full effect. You can get some fantastic oysters and clams in New Jersey too.
Damn...I may have to get some oysters & lobster for dinner tonight.

Shrimp, crabs, crawfish, etc.
(anything boiled in a huge pot wit corn and potatoes.
Gumbo
Etoufee
Bread pudding
Red beans
most local deserts
embrochette
oysters
grillades
jambalaya
all of this Louisiana style crap, cajun this, creole that, and NOLA style stuff I see in out of town restaurants that people in Louisiana don't even eat.

In my general metro area, wings and hot dogs
There are other foods such as Italian, pizza, delis, etc that suck outside of the northeast for the most part, but any decent sized city in the northeast will have those types of food on par with the best.

So basicly .......
The Northeast has the best Italian food?
The Mid Atlantic has the best Seafood?
The South has the best southern style/soul food and BBQ?
West Coast & SouthWest has the best mexican & texmex? (Not sure, just guessing)

I would agree, except for the seafood part. Seafood is great everywhere that has a coast...it just depends on what type of seafood you're looking for. I'm partial to lobsters obviously...but that's also because lobster is better than anything else on the planet  |
