Basing this list on PERCEPTION? Hah, Americans are geographically illiterate, and the ones that live north of the 39th parallel have bigoted attitudes toward places south of it.
The real test of perception comes from the migration numbers. If America wasn't in love with places like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Phoenix, etc., you couldn't get people to move there.
