How do I go about getting it all together? I've lived in Winchester VA my WHOLE LIFE..I'd like to move to southern VA maybe WV, I've had a couple interviews but no luck really and don't want to waste gas driving back and forth...Where do I begin?????
I've got 5 years in Customer Service: JcPenny & Belk, 9 mos in banking: Navy Federal Credit Union, and now I'm working a temp job that ends next week in the HR dept for American Background (background checks) entering data into system also as a receptionist. Any ideas? I need a permananet job bad!!
A new beginning...cheap place to live and a permanent full time job making enough to get by on my own where eventually after I get on my feet I can get back in college. Thats all I'm looking for.
Check out Pittsburgh. It's a big city but not in an intimidating way since it's basically a large group of neighborhoods, which doesn't make it feel as overwhelming for someone from a smaller town. It's only two hours from Winchester. The unemployment rate there has been falling, and is at 8% versus the national average of 10%. It's also surprisingly affordable. Decent one bedroom rentals in the Southside neighborhood (nice/popular area) for instance rent for around $550 a month. Department store sales and Banking positions would average around $12 an hour. After a year, you can claim state residency and attend a state school with reasonable tuition rates. Allegheny Community College and the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) are good options. You could try a city like Harrisburg and surrounding cities like York and Lancaster, as well as surrounding suburbs. It's close to Winchester and is a quick ride on I-81 too.
If you don't mind going a bit further north, Upstate NY cities like Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and maybe even Binghamton could work. They are all affordable and there should be some jobs in the fields that you have experience in. This is a good website to check out: Central New York Jobs
I'd prefer southern VA cuz at least I'd be close to family I know...but TN is beautiful I've been there...
