I would venture to say more recent growth sprawl cities versus the established ones. NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Minneapolis, Denver, Seattle and San Francisco as examples of "least clubby", with places like Miami, Nashville, Las Vegas, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Atlanta more bar/club oriented for singles in my opinion.

I'd say Boston and the New England cities have a bar/tavern scene, not the club scene except for maybe Providence.

All of the Florida cities blow the clubbing category out of the water. Least clubby are the northern high density cities.

Wisconsin easily has the most bars per capita and the largest neighborhood bar culture. In Milwaukee, corner bars are literally everywhere. People are blown away the first time they see this in a Wisconsin city. La Crosse WI was in Guiness for having the most bars on one street in the world, and this sort of thing goes for every city in the state. Two bars, a church and 5 houses = a small town here.

Luckily for me, because clubs put me to sleep zzzz....

Club cities: LA and Las Vegas on the west, Miami and NYC on the east

Miami (beach) and Vegas (strip) both do clubbing on a scale that has no real comparison within the U.S.

San Francisco rather sucks for clubbing...but it makes up with its superior bar culture. San Diego is somewhere in between SF and LA, but it has great beer...nothing else matters. lol.
