Hi,

We heard that Alpharetta has a low unemployment rate. We are thinking about moving down in that area. I have many yrs. experience as a customer care rep/call center and my husband has many yrs. experience in car dealership parts dept. Are jobs readily available in that area and is it a safe area to live in. I am 45 and he's 38 so we are looking for a community to live in where there are some people in their late 30's to late 40's to socialize with. Thank you.

IIRC, unemployment is 9.8% in the state of GA. I wouldn't suggest that anyone move here without securing stable employment prior to relocation.

Alpharetta is an affluent suburb north of Atlanta. Many people work in the IT industry.

Like elsewhere in the area, the money that is in alph isn't made there!

There are several dealerships along hyw9, numerous body shops and the like. If he is qualified and can fit in, rbm north is as good as it will get there, outside the ferarri/maseratti dealer which is also close by but so low volume they dont even take aps

Alpharetta is a great area to live, but like mentioned previous, it's not really a self-sustained city. In other words there's a good chance you will have to find work closer to Atlanta. And it is a wealthier area, something to consider. It might be a great place to live, but may not be so great if you aren't making a lot of money. Just consider your kids may always be part of the 'poor' crowd at school. Middle range neighborhoods in Alpharetta are up in the high 300's, with many up in the millions.
