Hi, My wife has a great job in Warner Robbins. I have a teaching gig up in Clayton County. We currently life in Locust Grove. I want to move to the WR area and find an equestrian property for us to live on as we have a horse.
I am a musician/teacher (orchestra) and hope to find a teaching gig there.
Any advice about where to live, what schools to pursue would be very much appreciated!

You may want to look in the Perry area for equestrian property. It is just a bit south of Warner Robins (one b) and in Houston County. Houston County has a great music program in their schools. Plus, Robins AFB is home of the Air Force band of the Reserve. All the musicians are active duty Air Force and the concerts they give are fun to go to.

Warner Robins (with one "b") has some of the best schools in the state. This is good and bad.....good because it's a great work setting.....bad because the job market is quite competitive. Are you looking for public school elem, middle, or high? Or some other setting? I'm used to hearing the term "band" rather than "orchestra" when referring to public schools.

As far as areas large enough to accommodate horses, you'll need to look in Bonaire (a surburb in the southern end of W.R.) or probably a little further out in the Kathleen area (which is just a little bit south of Bonaire). This is where all the W.R. growth is going anyways.....many new and very good schools in this area.

Oh yeah....I didn't think about Perry - very horse friendly there. And lots of equestrian events at the Georgia National Fair Grounds and Agriculture Center.

I've even known people that will commute to W.R. from Hawkinsville (or somewhere in between).....lots of land between W.R. and Hawkinsville on Hwy. 96 if you can find someone willing to give it up. And Hawkinsville is famous for their Harness Festival. (http://hawkinsvillechamber.org/festival.htm - broken link)

byron is a good bet for horses and land. Hawkinsville would be a good option to look at as well.

Kathleen is close to Robins AFB and has a lot of new construction. The newer the neighborhood the less crime. Kathleen, bonaire have newer nicer neighborhoods in general but houston county is overall pretty good.

we've lived in Kathleen for one year and unfortunately have to move, fortunately it's to Colorado!! SO the house is on the market

I will say we were able to live in a gorgeous house and really enjoyed it here. Our Daughter, junior in Houston COunty HS loved the school and we were about a mile from it.. A great place to live, sorry we have to leave.
