My husband may be taking a job at Life University in Marietta, GA. Our kids are out of high school, so schools are not important. We would like to live close to the university (30 min or less). We would like to budget 150k for a home (3bed, 2bath). We have seen several nice homes in that price range on realtor.com (some short sale/foreclosure), but not sure of neighborhoods or true driving time to the University. We are in our early 40's, white, 2 college age boys. Any advice would be welcome.

Hello. Post your request on the Atlanta subforum. Marietta is part of metro Atlanta.

$150K in a nice part of East Cobb or West Cobb may be tough, but you can probably find some bank owned properties in the city itself and do some fix it up.

Marietta is really three areas with a common postal address. East Cobb is an older and more affluent area of unincorporated Cobb County. West Cobb is a newer and not quite quite as affluent unicorporated area. The City of Marietta has a few nice areas but in general has more crime and is less affluent.
