We Are Another Florida Family Thinking Of Relocating To Ga. We Are Interested In The Cumming Area. Does Anyone Have Any Input? We Visited And It Seems Very Nice But We Are Concerned About The Public Schools And The Road Congestion. Any Information Would Be Appreciated.

We relocated from FL to GA, first Alpharetta, then Cumming one year ago. Not going to soften it for you...GA 400 is a bear to drive during rush hour (about 6:30-9:00 AM and then 4:00 until 6:30 pm M-F). The schools here are good -- a new elementary school was built near us (south Cumming) and lots of really good teachers transferred there, so I'm excited. A friend of mine has kids in middle and high school and have had good experiences.

We love living here. We're only an hour from the mountains, which we love, and there are trees and hills everywhere... Much different from FL! And the people....so super nice that you wonder if they are for real. Again, much different from FL. And I'm sure you've figured out that you can sell your house in FL and probably buy a house here that's twice the size for the same money.

Best of Luck!
Marcy

I used to live in Cumming years ago, moved away in the early mid 90's and it was still Klan controlled for the most part. Often the Klan would set up a roadblock on GA400 at the county line periodically, is that stuff long gone?

Default Cumming

Cumming has great schools. I am trying to get a teaching job in the area as well. There is no need to worry about schools. The downside is the commute. If you work in Alpharetta or northern suburb areas where you can take backroads than it is much better. If you work further south in Atlanta it is long commute. Cumming is a beautiful area with a lot to offer. If you work close it is even nicer.
