Hi all,

Hello from Sarasota, FL.

My g/f and I will be travelling up to Atlanta in early September. We will be staying near the airport, specifically College Park area.

I would like to take her out to a nice dinner on the night we stay up there.

We LOVE local, non-chain, restaurants. I am wondering if someone would suggest a restaurant near that area (if possible) that we "absolutely should not miss."

We would like to spend about $100 or less for dinner/drinks.

Thank you!

Jason

Atlanta Seafood Restaurant, Pub and Fishhouse - Six Feet Under Atlanta

Six Feet Under
437 Memorial Dr, Atlanta, GA 30312
Telephone: 404-523-6664

Six Feet Under is a neighborhood restaurant and pub with a casual, friendly atmosphere. With a rooftop patio overlooking historic Oakland Cemetery, the restaurant specializes in seafood.

EDIT (follow-up question): My g/f and I are both history buffs. Would checking out the Dr. MLK historic area (boyhood home, church, etc) be worth it? Or, is there somewhere else 2 history buffs would be able to spend a few hours to learn something?

Any suggestions?

The restaurant is located in/near Grant Park--the Atlanta Zoo and the Cyclorama/Civil War Exhibit are here.

The King Center and birthplace of MLK are also nearby>>>

Thanks again. We will definitely eat at Six Feet Under. We would love one more suggestion, as we will be there for 2 nights. Anyone?

I'm not certain how to identify restaurants that are closer to the airport area in these threads.

You could take MARTA from the airport/College Park to downtown and have a better selection --actually you could take MARTA to midtown or Buckhead and have even more options>>>

SRQ123 - You are getting some absolutely fantastic suggestions from TAH.

If you guys are history buffs, you might want to check out the beautiful Oakland Cemetery, directly across the street from Six Feet Under.

I 'm going to second checking out Oakland Cemetary . It is a really interesting place .

I'm going to add to the list the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead. Being a history buff of sorts myself, I love touring the grounds of that place and The Swan House is just awsome.
