Monticello has a prettier downtown than that of Jackson, but I don't venture there as much. I imagine the real estate prices are somewhat comparable to that of Jackson. Maybe others will see this thread and post to it in time if there is no ruch.

Cool Jackson and Monticello Info

My husband and I live on Jackson lake. He previously lived in Monticello and has restored many homes in Monticello, so he knows a lot about both towns.

We currently have his last house he restored in Jackson for sale. It is a 4,000sf Victorian 1 block from the square. There are several new restaurants there now and can easily stroll to them for dinner. Some of the neighbors go every Wed night together.

The Atlanta growth is definitely heading this way, as more stores are opening up on I-75 so the drive isn't as far as it used to be. In 20 mins, I'm at all the major stores I could ever need. There is still a small town country feel around here and everyone is very friendly.

There are 3 new elementary schools here in Jackson, so our school system is much improved! The 3rd one opens in 2009.

If there is any other specific area info you would like, you can email us at kramerz@bellsouth.net.

Come and join us! The lake is full, always will be since it's for power, and the fish are biting!
