i know i'm asking for alot...lol but i've been told that you can get a 3500 square foot house for a $200,000 mortgage. Is this true? if so, what county? my husband and our 3 sons want to relocate to georgia...can you point us in the right direction? THANKS!

A quick glance at Athens MLS shows 10 houses in the counties of Madison, Oglethorpe and Clarke that are the size you are interested in ranging in price from $149,000 to 215,000. Some of these are older homes in need of some work. Typically in the Athens, GA you can get a little more for your money by driving 15 to 20 minutes from one of the counties surrounding Clarke County.

There also a few that might qualify on GA MLS (in the Atlanta area), but they don't put square footages on their listings.

Tyrone Georgia - 20 minutes south of the airport, right near Peachtree City. It's a tiny town of maybe 7,000 people - if you blink - you'll miss it!

There are many older homes all over the state that would meet you needs. In some areas, you may even get tax credit for fixing up one of them. As far as interest rates, they would probably be close to the same no matter where you go. They are going up and down at an amazing rate. Who knows what they will be in a month or two!!

Your first step will be to narrow your choices down to what section of the State you are interested in. Mountains? Seacoast? Are you interested in acrerage or farmland?
