I may be relocating to Cairo, GA. If I am, ill be going to Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville. Ill be attending there for Agriculture. (John Deere Technician.) I have a few questions about the area.

-Is there enough agriculture/farms for me to make a living. Are there farms that would need extra help through out the year or what ever season it may be?
-What are the taxes like? What about the cost of living?
-I would need to live somewhere. Where abouts around Cairo/Thomasville area do you recommend? Any links to homes/land would be helpful.

Im sure ill have more questions, but these are the first few on my mind. I don't want to move down there, then have to live paycheck to paycheck. I want to live comfortably. I currently live in Raleigh, NC.

Any help/suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

it'll be hard to get good pay on a farm.

most of the positions are minimum wage (for legal citizens). unless you're a mexican without a green card, it will be hard to compete.

once you finish your training though, you should be able to find employment. many of those guys moonlight for farmers working on equipment to pick up extra cash while working @ the dealership during the day.
