Cool How it goes in Covington, Georgia

Hmmm. How does it go?

I am a transplant from Florida. I arrived in 1997 and it took a bit of time to adjust to the move. Since 97, the area has really grown both in the number of stores as well as the number of homes available and being built.

I am a second grade teacher at one of the Covington Elementary Schools. Teaching opportunities are abundant here- we are opening another elementary school in 2008-2009. It will be two stories! Last year a new high school, Alcovy High, opened and already they are adding on. We have two or three more elementary schools with nearby middle schools being built in Covington in the next five years, as well as at least one more high school.

Our district is well run and the requirements tighten every year, it seems. My school has always met AYP. I understand that there are some that do not; however usually that is due to special education children being included in the final numbers (thanks, No Child Left Behind).

We have everything a small town needs here in Covington; Even a great arts program (Newton County Art Association). Do you have any specific questions? I will be happy to respond.
