On the scale of 1 to 10, how important is that the Fall Line Cities be linked?

Both cities have large military installations
Both are hovering around 200,000 in population
Both are border cities that have huge influence in neighbor states

I give it a....8 on importance

I read that the Mac-Town is holding up the progress. Why is this? Like Col1985 said this is too important!

Fall Line Freeway or Interstate 14

I prefer the latter

What would be the entire route of an I-14?

Ugh, I hate it when people compare these two cities... it always turns into a full-blown arguement...*sigh*

Who is comparing? Read the thread. Is it important to the state as a whole that the Fall Line cities be more connected in tourism, transportation, trade, ideas etc.? Why or why not?

I believe it is very important for the Fall Line cities form some coalition of some sort to counter the Atlanta influence.

The Fall Line freeway(I-14) allows passage threw Georgia without the Atlanta traffic. So travelers could see the other side of our great state taking that route.

I agree that it is very important to Georgia. Plus, any way to avoid Atlanta traffic helps commerce immensely. Macon wasn't exactly the hold-up directly. The original plan had the Fall Line Freeway crossing the Ocmulgee River across the Ocmulgee National Monument. The problems with that were multi-faceted and let's just say that after wrangling with environmentalists, historic preservationists, and a Native American tribe that is headed up in Oklahoma all getting involved and not being able to agree (shocking, I know), the State decided to route the thing on existing roads through Macon. Now the last stretch is being built from Sandersville to near Gordon which includes completely new road and a new bridge over the Oconee River. That will take a few more years, but it is in progress.

One day, one day....LOL

If they decided to use an existing road through Macon, shouldn't that make it easier, faster?

Augusta proposal of the Augusta Way at gateway to the city. You would drive Rocky Creek (Regency Mall) then Paine College and the medical district.
