To be blunt, your chances of finding an elementary teaching job are about zero right now. (we used to live there and work in that field)

Counties are receiving between 200 and 600 resumes for jobs. Competition for teacher assistant/ parapros is fierce and some places are only hiring certified teachers for those jobs also because they have so many unemployed teachers to choose from. Hundreds of teachers have been laid off in recent years. (My former county let around 200 go while we were there)

Move to Ringgold!! Although we have had a tornado and in the process of rebuilding and putting new places up, it is amazing!! Its 10 minutes from Chattanooga TN where there are tons of shopping, restraunts, schools and anything you could think of. Its also about an hour from Atlanta! So its perfect!

I agree with iheartpiink..but wanted to add one. We went thru the Ga mtns this weekend to Hayesville NC. It was about the 5th time we have been to/thru Blairsville. I have fallen in love with the town and would love to live there. They have lots of festivals and flea markets. It is a pretty town with all the needed amenities. You could live out of town but drive in for work. Not sure about the economy there through..worth checking into. Good luck!

Blue Ridge is no tourist trap. It's a wonderful community with an active community, plenty of local businesses and many fine folks. Of course there are things for tourists to do, but it is definitely not a tourist trap.

It is so a tourist trap. Theres no actual businesses that employ local workers. 90 percent of so called historic Blue Ridge is owned by A#$lantans and Floridians. Theres actually nothing historic about downtown. 90 percent of the structures are new and were built for the tourists. The coke sign people pose in front of is actually new. It is a major tourist trap and actually because of that losing its appeal to even weekend warriors.

Disparage them if you want, but I can't even imagine the abysmal poverty that would exist there without them.

No businesses employ local workers? Well, do they fly all the workers in everyday from other states? What?

And, what the heck does being "historic" have to do with whether a place is nice or not? Huh????

And, who cares about the Coke sign?

I mean really. Are you one of those folks who simply hate that folks from outside of the hometown have bought property or vacation there? If so, just come out and say it. Otherwise, quit trashing a wonderful place with senseless dribble.

Blue Ridges downtown area is marketed to the tourists from the city as Historic to trap them so it has a lot to due with my point. Theres no real jobs in Blue Ridge because it has been pushed as a fake Tourist destination with really nothing to offer. You like to paint a image of Blue Ridge from a weekend warriors perspective that isnt real and doesnt exist. You sound like a real estate agent in the North Georgia Mountains. There are much better small towns in North Georgia that haven't been turned into the suburbs like Blue Ridge has become. That indeed is my point.
