hey im 21 and i was hopeing that people from blue ridge or around that area could help me out here. i was born in a country town but we moved and i was raised a city boy in maryland, but i have always been wantin to get back to my roots in the country. i love the country and the people are the greatest people you will ever meet in your life. i was just wonderin what people thought about a northerner comin down and tryin to start a life in rural georgia. are there any hard feelins towards them? any help would be great. thanks

I am from north GA, Toccoa to be exact, and I just wanted to let you know that for the most part, we don't care where you are from. Of course, you may get some kidding about being a "Yankee" and there may be some yankee jokes; but, you will also hear "Ya might be a Redneck if..." jokes more often. We just like jokes and we aren't too politically correct to enjoy them.

As long as someone doesn't come in and treat us like we are idiots because we speak a little slow or something, then no problem. It's the people that move here and then think they can look at us like we shouldn't be here soiling their new home that we can't stand. If someone doesn't like southern drawls and our way of life they can stay just where they are happy. (By the way, I know enough languages to get myself in trouble in about 4 different countries and have an IQ of around 140 so we aren't all dumb hicks.) I think from your question that you have a great attitude and we would be happy to have you down here.

Long story short, come on down. We'd love to have you. Just keep your nose clean and we'll be alright.
