With respect, your question is too vague and too short on information such as age of children, job situation (commuting into Atlanta???), special needs for anyone in the family, desire for certain type of education ie. public or private schools. What type of housing are you interested in? Property taxes vary from county to county in GA. Hope you can clarify your question. Best of luck to you.

Hello I am thinking about moving to GA in the summer of 2013. I am 35 years old and have 3 children, recently divorced and looking for a change. The kids are 16, 8, and 4. I am moving from Newark, Nj so right now anything is better than this. I do working in the healthcare insurance industry and Im in the middle of obtaining a bachelors in computer information system. I am going move whether or not I have a job lined up but hoping tohave a job. I plan to have at least 6 months of rent saved so that shouldn't be an issue. I have my resume out there and so I am hoping that before that time to have something in the works. I guess my question is what are the best areas and what does the employment situation really look like out there. I have been looking at some of the other post but the dates are a little old. Any and all information would really be helpful.

I would wait until you have a job lined up to be honest. The job market is rough right now.

Thank you...it can't be any worse than it is in NJ. I mean I do have a job now but its not exactly what I want to be doing. I have actually gotten a couple calls about sales jobs in the area but thats not what I am looking to do. I do see that there are a lot of posting of openings for jobs so that is why I am little confused when I keep seeing so many post about the job market in GA being so bad. I would love to know the statistics on this. I have also been in contact with a couple different Temp Agencys so I sort of have a plan on how I will attack the job situation.

Rome is a small city in the Northwest corner of the state, but our economy is based on medicine and education. A small city in the south my or may not be your cup of sweet tea, but it is a good place to live as far as I am concerned.
