Hello,

We are part timers in Blairsville. With football season right around the corner, we are looking for sports bars/grills with numerous TVs to watch all the games. Is there such a place in Blue Ridge, Hiawassee, Murphy, or Blairsville?

I would check out some places like The Chophouse, The Ridges Resorts ( both are in Hiawassee) , Brasstown Valley resort ( Young Harris ) .
I can think of several places that will have " the game " on their one TV ( University of Georgia or the Falcons) but not multiple games going on on several tv's in a bar setting .

Not that I'm aware of in Blairsville anyway. Blairsville's liquor license requires more sales be from food than alcohol so there are no "bars" at all. There is a "Sports Bar" called Coaches in Murphy, however we've never been there so I can't give you any info about it. We just throw a big ole party on the deck when we want to watch a game.

Coaches was a recommendation. Guess we will give it a try. I do think we are going to be hard pressed to find a place offering many games. Another question............is there a club for Floridians or over 60 folks to socialize. This is our first stay of 4-6 months and meeting people has not been easy.

You can go down 515 to Canton (hwy 20 East exit) you'll find a Taco Mac. Numerous screens... decent wings...

As far as a club... Nope.... but once again... pick up a newspaper (the N. Ga. News comes out on Tues.). There is so much going on here all the time. Church functions, Masonic functions, card clubs, bowling leagues, heck I've even had craft classes at a local store which introduced me to folks. Get involved at the library. Most of all...Get involved. Personally, I love the fact that no one here knows me and I can go to town and don't run into a single solitary person I know.

Sign up for a class at OASIS (non-religious classes of all kinds) at First United Methodist Church in Blairsville. Look at their website for a list of classes and a calendar. A new session starts in March. Almost everybody who goes there is a Floridian! Also sign up for dance classes or something at the Senior Center.

karengramenz... Thank you for the info! I looked at the UMC web site and it showed the classes for the winter session but not the spring courses. Will they be the same for Spring? I'd love to attend some.
