I have a job in blue ridge, but the schools in blairsville are higher on the schooldigger.com list. Which town is the better one to live in. I am moving from middle georgia, so both would be an improvement, but I am just curious.

What a great choice to have to make . Both areas are just beautiful to visit and live in . I do know that Union County Schools (Blairsville )have been hit very hard recently financially and are facing nearly a million dollar defficet for next year which is causing them to do some drastic things - laying off teachers etc .I am not sure what the financial state of Fannin County schools are in that regards - but you might want to ask about that in helping to make your decision .It can really be an issue if you rely on the school system to help with special services like speech etc.

Now, this is just my opinion... but to me, I prefer Blairsville. Weekends, summers and especially holidays Blue Ridge gets chaotic with tourists. Which is great in one aspect, but at the same time gets old quickly. While Blairsville does get tourists, we don't get the sheer number that Ellijay or Blue Ridge get. With that said, I don't know with any certainty, but I'm guessing the demographic of Blairsville tends to be slightly older. Guessing more retiree's who want the slower paced lifestyle. Both are beautiful, wonderful towns however...
