Newsboy... I've told you this before. As a former employee of the Augusta National, you don't know what you're talking about. It's for privacy, much like a privacy fence. They can't have anyone just walking up to the club, you know there would be thousands there every day and what kind of member experience would that be? Besides the fact that there are many influential people there on any given day as members, what's to say some disgruntled person just walks up and pulls out gun on a member like what happened in New York the other day?

It's part of the nostalgia of the course...It has nothing to do with trying to separate itself from the city or the people that inhabit the area around it. It's a club, that's what clubs do... You have a long list of clubs and associated cities to start condemning... better get started. You really have no point with this one.

And there aren't any walls... it's bamboo and chain-link fence for 99% of it. They don't need walls with the security and cameras out there, they know you're there before you do. It's private property just like any other, not a statement towards a city or visitors.

And why are there walls around Augusta National? Seriously. Get real.
How many cities have more than Augusta? How many cities even have more than 3?

I tried to tell you before a developer wanted to build upscale condos/retail at the National Hills shopping center.. The National wouldn't even allow the condos to be over 3-4 stories due to the security reasons..... I don't think you realize for instance the Surrey Center(Tourist trap during Masters) is only a few minutes away from the course...

I've never been employed by Augusta National.

nortonguy, you act like Augusta is the only city that can see growth. I have a question, why did NCR locate here instead of Augusta or Macon?

There you go again singling out Augusta again......Why did the NCR not relocate to Savannah or Athens? Both of these cities offer more than Columbus could. Columbus must have made an offer that couldn't be refused apparently

NCR see the Savannah port and Atlanta airport as competition. Athens,Macon,Augusta couldn't support half the major companies Columbus have.

You Augusta homers are entertaining. You make it easy for others to single out Augusta because people are tired of hearing the over-hyped, exaggerated comments you make.
