This to me is a "build it and they will come project". Columbus, Macon, Warner Robins, Augusta and a handful of other deep south metro will have the opportunity to attract developer, traveler, doctors, teachers, student etc. to there city with great accessibility. Supply side economics says this will spur growth in communities long neglected in the infrastructure development. Could this band of rag-tag cities peel enough traffic off I-85 by giving the driver more options of destination?

I'm sure most trucks are going to choose drive around Atlanta if the city isn't there destination. There for freeing up traffic and increasing, value of life, encouraging growth. I'm positive as the years go by traveler will have familiarized themselves with the route and opened Georgia up to more industries, more destinations and more connection.

I doubt it will spur growth in those fall-line cities anymore than the grip program fall-line freeway already will.

As for truck traffic... a majority of it is travelling from the southeast to the northwest...in which I-14 does nothing to help it bypass Atlanta efficiently. A north-south... or a southeast/northwest route it needed, which is why they were originally considering the freeway from Savannah- Augusta- Knoxville

I don't think the Fall Line Freeway is a controlled access highway.

Exactly but one interstate at a time brother. Interstate 14 was always the easier one of the 2 to get done. Interstate 3 has larger issues with neighboring states.

I still find it odd that it is being numbered 14. East-West interstate freeways tend to increase in their numbers as you head farther north. That segment of I-14 from Macon to Augusta is clearly farther north than I-16. I think should've been called I-18.

Still, I think an interstate freeway route from Savannah to Augusta is desparately needed. Even if they don't build the entire thing, at least build that segment!
