My husband is considering a job in Savannah. We have four kids, ages 9 mo., 9 yrs, 11 yrs and 13 yrs. I've been doing some research on the schools in Chatham county, and it doesn't look good! It looks to me like the west Chatham (Pooler) elementary and middle schools are decent, but the high schools leave a lot to be desired.

Are there any decent high schools in the Savannah area? What about the neighboring counties? We really can't afford private schoool. Thanks so much.

Oglethorpe Charter School for Middle
Islands and Pooler Schools are good elem
Traffic around Richmond Hill and to Rincon are a night mare and NO answers. West Chatham area is growing fast---Middle class flight from City schools
I have 2 in SAA and 2 in Bloomingdale Elem (West Chatham)
A new elem and Middle and Technology High are being built on Benton Blvd at Jimmy Deloach Parkway in West Chatham Highlands Area Jemkins High attracts some of the brightest students into its academy
If your kids are bright they can get into some of the academys
If not go look to R Hill or Rincon areas

Port Wentworth near the Swamp Fox
2 miles from the South Effingham Elem
We could have sent the children to in to the Effingham County Schools but while they are good schools. We got them into the the academys. We also Know some Effingham Co Students that smuggle their children into Chatham Schools.
Especially the artistic types. Thespians and such... The Effingham County High Mascot ......General Lee........They do not call themselves the "REBELS" for Nuthin

The school's innovative approach brings it an award from the U.S. Department of Education, but some of the nation's other charters are failing

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System's SAT math and reading average is up six points but only because of tremendous gains made at Windsor Forest, Savannah Arts and Jenkins high schools.
