Thank God she and her kids were okay. Horrible ordeal, but good ending.

You break into someone's house, you deserve anything that's coming to you.

If she had one of those horrible, huge, assault type magazines that hold 17 rounds, then this guy probably wouldn't be able to sue her for everything she owns.

Good for her. Solid reason why we need guns, not less of them.

Anyone have her address? Because I'd like to send her a dozen roses.

I'm just going to toss in since it's already leaning in this direction, that the topic is about someone protecting herself and her kids from a home invader.... and it's not a political commentary about the rights to own weapons, gun laws, etc... so before it starts further, please, keep it about the actual topic and let's not turn it into something else.

Thank you

I'm not sure how this story cannot be about guns... what else is there? It's great that mother and children are fine but I don't agree that she had to use her gun. If she didn't have one she could still have been safe. Her children as well. If she did not have a gun she would have made sure that the front and back doors were locked. She would not have hidden with her children. She would have hidden them and maintained some control over the situation from a different hiding spot. She had the huge advantage of knowing her home better than the intruder. She might have warned the intruder that she was armed! I know, I know, why should she do that?? Just fill his face with lead, that's warning enough. That's probably not how the law sees it... just saying.. Its also about the laziness of society to invent anything better than the gun, since the gun does the job well enough. Or does it.

Maybe... but in another thread Georgia came up and I wouldn't get too smug if I were you... seems that an awful lot of home invasions are completed using the home-owners own weapon..in Georgia...
