Yea, this takes it a bit far. It's one thing to generally prohibit less than the speed limit obstructing traffic as currently exists, but this would seem to include drivers already driving at or above the speed limit. The existing law is fine.

There are not enough cops to enforce this law. All it is going to do is add some citation revenue to the state.

So be it. There are too many people out there impeding the flow of traffic by driving in the left lane and blocking other drivers from passing.

I hope it passes. Every single morning, I see cars that hop onto the freeway, putting along like grandpa and dart all the way over into the fast lane. EVERY MORNING! Almost every one is also on the phone. Go figure.

Its not about the speed limits, but obstructing the flow of traffic, which is dangerous. It can me more dangerous then the flow that is actually going 10 over the speed limit.

Its really not that hard not to drive in the left, and if you do, fine. Just move over when cars start approaching you.

If those whining about slow drivers in the left lane want to make an issue of something, it's better to target the idiots who won't move at all! Traffic finally clears, and they're still putting along at 30mph, or slowing to rubberneck at some flashing lights, just slows everyone else down. This morning around 10, there was NO REASON for the connector northbound to be backed up at all other than people who didn't want to move for whatever reason. There wasn't even an accident or stall to account for it! Just people who for whatever reason, didn't want to move. Target those, and traffic will be flowing much better than any ridiculous new left-lane law (it's already a violation to go below the speed limit in the left lane).

There is no such thing as 'fast lane'. On every lane you are to follow the speed limit. The left lane is the passing lane.

Ugh, not this again...They just need to raise the speed limits and be done with it. Most of Atlanta's freeways, except for the downtown connector, could easily handle 65-mph traffic. (That's probably close to the average speed anyway.)

And there's got to be a real conversation about minimum speed limits. 40-mph minimums are a joke. Really, the minimum speed, except for the right lane or two, should be within 10 mph of the speed limit. Both speed and speed differential are major causes of wrecks and fatalities.
