Gosh, it would be nice not to have to drive to the border to get them!

I hope this makes it all the way.

Fireworks are illegal in GA? You would not have guessed it, judging be the public fireworks displays in my neighbor's yards on the 4th of July and New Years. Like most of the state, I am less than a hour drive from a state (two states, actually) where fireworks are legal. Keep in mind that fireworks are legal in most (perhaps all?) of the states that share a border with GA. Clearly, this is a major justification for the legislation, according to the link the OP posted:

Quote:
“The reality is, if you look at some of the cities that border other states where fireworks are legal, we see people going into those other states and buying them,” said state Sen. Cecil Staton, R-Macon, the second signer on the legislation. “So they’re going to buy them.”
Another major problem with the current law is enforcement. Given the extensive proliferation of fireworks use in GA on the 4th of July and New Years (when most of the fireworks are ignited,) Police cannot possibly issue tickets and confiscate fireworks to even a small percentage of the offenders on those dates.
