As a whole, Cobb has better schools than DeKalb.
County services are better in Cobb vs. DeKalb as well.

On the flip side, DeKalb has better accessibilty to the city of Atlanta thanks to MARTA.

If it were me, I'd choose Cobb.

Smile Ms. Dekalb/Cobb

I'm sorry. I do not know much about Dekalb or Cobb. I do, however, have a girlfriend who has lived in Dekalb for over 20 years with her husband. They raised their daughter there. They love it. I have no information about Cobb. But I am familiar with Gwinnette County, the City of Lawrenceville, Georgia. My husband and I own a house in Lawrenceville, Ga in a quiet gated community. Great for the middle-class income. Lawrenceville has good schools. It is about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. Moderator cut: tos violation

It all depends on what you want in terms of price. In my opinion, both counties have the two best "outside of the perimeter" suburban areas in Metro Atlanta:

1. DeKalb County: Tucker

2. Cobb County: Smyrna/Mableton/Vinings Area

*Both areas have excellent public schools, superior access to job centers, are "close-in", still relatively inexpensive, and are still "secrets". Both areas are also diverse with a great socio-economic mix. For "OTP", these are the best places in Atlanta. Trust me.

Good Luck!

I live in Tucker and feel the county services are outstanding. I haven't lived in Cobb, so I can't compare, but Dekalb services put Fulton and City of Atlanta services to shame.
