The census today released their estimates for the 2012 populations of cities. Here's how Georgia's top ten did.

2012 population
Atlanta: 443,775/ up 23,772 from 2010.

Columbus: 198,413/ up 8,528. Columbus is once again Georgia's second largest city.

Augusta: 197,872/ up 2,028 from 2010. Augusta however, has dropped to being the state's third largest.

Savannah: 142,022/ up 5,736 from 2010.

Athens: 118,999/ up 3,547 from 2010.

Sandy Springs: 99,419/ up 5,566 from 2010.

*Macon: 91,234/ down 117 from 2010. This will be the last estimates with Macon's old city boundaries. Since its merger with Bibb County won't be official until January 2014. But using the new consolidated figures, Macon is now the fourth largest city and has gained population.

Roswell: 93,692/ up 5,346 from 2010.

Johns Creek: 82,306/ up 5,578 from 2010.

Albany: 77,431/ down 3 from 2010.

Is it possible to get population totals for all 242 neighborhoods in Atlanta?

Didn't Columbus, Macon, Athens and Augusta merge with their respective counties?, inflating their populations to in my opinion, Atlanta is in a county with over a million people but you only hear about the 443,775 in the actual city limits not a merged area.

Some cities and counties are just better being merged together. A good example would be Nashville Tennessee.

Augusta is not the consolidated with the entire county... The 2012 population of Richmond County was around 203k....

I dont know about "inflating." Georgia counties are small in size. In Macon, there can be continuous development (especially on the North and Eastsides) and then up pops a sign "Macon City Limits." So I know here it actually shows more of a realistic population of the city. Basically 90-95% of North Macon isn't even within the current city proper.
