By midnight they will be gone. Yep i'm talking about the hordes of folks that are on Georgia's Interstate system right now. On I-95 and I-75 and I-10, I-16 and I-20 they are moving three deep at 70 mph , heading into Fl,Tn,SC,NC. and Al.
Georgia is a large state, the largest east of the Mississippi and it is bordered by five states so many of the folks that bring us prosperity only stay in the state a few hours.
The good news is that Georgia is recognized as having the best highway system in the U.S.. The auto repair shops along the highways used to have a bad reputation for ripping people off but the state has tried to do something about that, let's hope they have and lets hope all our visitors sail through without having car trouble.

Michigan is the largest state east of the Mississippi, however you do undoubtedly have the best highway, whereas we have the worst.

Ummm... I've driven in all 50 states, GA highways and freeways are certainly #1 in one regard, the filthiest (most trash in the barrow ditches, and on the shoulders). Certainly not the best quality roads. Readers Digest (first result I found on google) puts GA at 13:

The Best, Worst, and Deadliest Roads in America: The Rankings | Reader's Digest

I see where a GA elected official Claims that GA roads are good.... but then again, GA is known for being one of the states with the highest potential for political abuse/corruption as well.

If you count the water of the great lakes as being part of the state....then technically yes. Georgia has the biggest land mass of any state east of the Mississippi River.

I-75 in areas in Georgia was definitely very clogged for the Independence holiday as usual.

Did anyone else sit in traffic in Clayton or Henry counties, south of Atlanta or elsewhere? Saturday evening (7/6) around 8 pm, going north on 75 was a bear for me in Henry Co. due to overall volume. Plus the torrential downpour that was going on at that time. I cut over to Hampton to 19/41 which was a bit better to go north.

It is a shame that anyone traveling on our highways, especially I-75 are faced with obnoxious bill boards for the entire length of the thing. Awful stuff. A blight.

Y'ALL ARE BEING RIDICULOUS!

I-16 from Macon to Savannah and I-20 from Covington to Augusta are two of the most beautiful, scenic and uncluttered stretches of interstate in the Southeast. People always talk about how "boring" both are. You can't have it both ways!

I-75 North from Kennesaw to Chattanooga is quite scenic, too. And the entire stretch of I-95 along the Georgia coast -- all 120 miles from boarder to boarder -- is a super highway, eight lanes in some places. The scenery is quite stunning to, especially as you cross all the water down around Darien and Brunswick.

Georgia's secondary roads and state highway system is indeed among the best in the nation. Just drive over to SC or Alabama if you need convincing.

Worst roads in the nation? Louisiana.
