moved from GA 5 years ago for the weather (wife is native Atlantan), but find the culture in our golf community definitely not Southern and the summer heat increasingly intolerable every year (global warming perhaps?). Two grandkids in Atlanta area now, the primary motivation to return. We have looked at the northwest sector of Atlanta rather thoroughly and have settled on Canton, particularly Bridgemill. Since it obviously is dominated by young families, does anyone have any inside dope on that community, particularly acceptance of retirees? I note the existence of a group in the community called "bridgemillers" which appears to cater to the older set. Any info on them would be appreciated. Would anyone hazard a guess on whether residents there are mostly native or out of state?

Default Bridgemill

As I recall, a few years ago a local TV station had a segment about shoddy construction in the Bridgemill subdivision. I can't remember all of the specifics.

I just looked the Bridgemill subdivision up on the Google search engine. The key words I used in the search were:

Bridgemill
Canton
shoddy construction

The Atlanta Journal Constitution did write a story about shoddy construction in the Bridgemill subdivision, and a specific builder is mentioned.

I'm sure there are quite a few Bridgemill builders, so it's possible other builders are reputable.

The article reports the widespread problem of shoddy construction in the metro Atlanta area.

many thanks for the info. I'll pass it on to my son in Atlanta who is a certified home inspector- maybe he knows who the bad guys are.
