State of Georgia Department of Education Film Library

While I'm not sure when this was first introduced in GA public schools, I do recall seeing it in color in the 80s when I had attended various schools. The version I recall seeing was the background was blue and they had used this same intro music. Not sure what the piece of music is by name?

THE GEORGIA DEPT OF EDUCATION FILM LIBRARY LOGO - YouTube

This example is black and white and must be from a slightly earlier era, maybe 1960s? I do remember sometimes the well-worn film strips breaking and the projector not working properly and the oft-frustrated teacher trying over and over to get it to work. The strips were on old reels and did not work well as the technology was already somewhat dated into the 1980s. Notice the Youtube comments in the video.

As students, we would sit through these videos, often bored since the films themselves were usually somewhat dull and quite dated by the time we watched them. Do any of you remember this intro?

Although I could not find an online source handy to reference, I also remember still-film strips in the GA school's library that were quite old as well, probably from the 1950s. They were probably microfiche film strips, I think. As students you could put them on projectors to view and read the captions under the pictures (no audio). These strips were probably also produced by the State of Georgia Department of Education Film Library.

I attended Georgia public school in the 60s and 70s. The Department of Education films shown during that time played the song "Dixieland" with the state flag of the era flying on the screen. This song was the introduction to all the films that I saw.

I remember some films had the GA state seal and others had the state flag flying. Most all these films in the 60s played the “Dixie” intro. I don’t remember the intro song on the above video.
