My family has decided to move south, preferably to Georgia. So we've done the standard research for costs, jobs, schools, hospitals, etc. That being done we're leaning towards the Lagrange area. We're not dead set on anything right now though.

I'm a carpenter and an HVAC technician and right now I own my own business. My wife is an EMT. We have two kids 8 and 6 and hoping to have a third. We're all outdoorsy type people and I grew up on a farm. We like to fish, hunt, camp, etc.

Just looking for a small town atmosphere.

What's the general opinion?

I think several towns in the North Georgia area would be a good fit ( by this I mean north of Atlanta ) . Towns like Dawsonville, Dahlonega, Cleveland, are just among a few I would look at . Gainsville would be a good option for both of your career choices ( IMO , it does not have a small town feel to it at all ) . Many people commute there for work choosing to live in quainter towns or settlements like the ones I have mentioned .

The Hogansville area just north of LaGrange might be a nice fit. West Point Lake offers lots of recreational activities, as well as nearby Pine Mountain and Calloway Gardens. Schools in Troup County are pretty good. Land in next-door Meriwether County is dirt cheap but the schools are awful. I'd stick to Troup, Coweta or Harris counties if you're dead-set on that area. Tons of shopping and restaurants up I-85 in Newnan, but the traffic there is awful and real estate prices much higher.
