We'll be in GA in late Aug or early Sept. We'll be going all the way down to Savannah. One place we'd like to check out is (the town? Village?) Trenton and/or Dade County.
Could you tell me a few things about the area?
We're attracted by low cost of living. There's a very low cost of living there. Anyone know why? I know it's a little out of the way, but are there any other reasons that may be a concern? (Downstream from an industrial waste dump, nuclear power plant nearby, paper mills, oil fields, meth hotspot, cancer cluster, etc)
Is it pretty mountainous? Can anyone vouch for the scenic beauty? It looks like it's be in the mountains, but I'm having a hard time finding pics online of the area.
Where would you recommend camping in the area?
I hear there's caves you can go check out... Can anyone give a personal review of those? Worth checking out?

Any info at all on the area would be great. I understand that it's going to be somewhat economically depressed. We enjoy finding "diamond in the rough" places. Just trying to figure out if it's worth a stop.

I don't know much about Trenton/Dade County. You might get more replies if this thread is moved/posted in the Chattanooga (Tennessee) forum. Dade is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area.

Hi, I moved here from San Diego, Calif. area. I love Trenton, it is a small town and has a lot of caring people. We do have mountains on both sides. Sand Mountain and Look out mountain where wars were fought. In the fall you will not find anything more breathtaking. I don't know why more people do not choose Trenton to move too, but I am glad. It would become like any other town. We are 14 miles from Walmart. Tennessee state line is about 9 miles and Alabama state line is about 14 miles the other way. We are 125 miles from Nashville, about that from Knoxville and 150 miles from Atlanta.
Birmingham is 99 miles. Oh and Chattanooga is 20 miles. We have great church's, good restaurants and enough dollar stores to get you anything you want.
