As it's been stated, Augusta has the better retail, Columbus has more corporate headquarters. Augusta has a larger metro population. Otherwise, they are fairly even.

Being that both of you are from NC, Augusta is considerably closer to NC than Columbus in terms of driving distance. Charlotte is just a little over two hours, the Triad is a little over three hours, and the Triangle is a little over four hours!!!

While it does have an impact, LaGrange benefits much more. LaGrange has a big connection to Columbus but it's still separate.

Pretty much "not" ... It is 40 miles from the Kia Plant to Columbus, and Troup County is solidly part of the ATL CSA, not the Columbus MSA or CSA.

40 miles is nothing. Kia sits right outside Harris County which is in the Columbus metro. Kia does have a positive impact on Columbus without a doubt.
