Did a thread a few months back on Alabama and Mississippi, doesn't seem like it's too common for people in Georgia (specifically the Atlanta metro) to visit those two. However, what about South Carolina and North Carolina? Just out of curiosity, currently studying the south for my major.

You'd have to post in the Atlanta area for more metro folks to participate, but for myself and my wife, we've been to NC exactly once in the past 3 years since moving Back to GA. SC once (these are for stays, not driving through), TN twice and FL once.

But, to be fair, in the last 3 years we've spent 3 months in Montana and 6 weeks in each Ireland and Germany ~ so our travels tend to extend further and scratch a different itch. To fund that travel, we stay and recreate local (as cheaply as possible).

I frequently travel to Columbia to see friends. I go to Myrtle beach every once in a while. I have relatives in Charlotte that I visit maybe once a year.

Savannah and Augusta are both on the state line, so it could be fairly often.

I imagine that the tourism and visitor boards of each state keep statistics of this kind.

I visit North Carolina when my liquor supply needs replentishing. The bible thumpers have continued to make sure the Northeast Georgia Mountain counties do not have liquor stores, so a run to Murphy has become a regular scheduled event.

I also know people in and around places like Toccoa and Elberton do some of their shopping in Anderson and Greenville.

I saw this thread and didn't respond since I live in Augusta and a huge portion of the metro is in South Carolina. I could just do how much I visit North Carolina which is about once every 2 to 3 years.

Do you feel like South Carolina and Georgia are similar states? I'd say South Carolina is more similar to Georgia than North Carolina, North Carolina is more like Virginia.
