Good morning everyone,

I am a 24y.o. married mother of 3 little ones (8,5, & 8 months). I would like to relocate to Georgia because of the variety of jobs within my field. I am a Crim major from UMD and have been unable to find an entry-level job in my field in MD, VA or DC. My husband is a roofer/laborer by trade. After doing a little research, I have found that Alpharetta, Fulton, Dekalb, and Gwinnett county would be my best bet for areas to work and live in since they are all relatively close to Atlanta. My husband and I aren't "club" people so we aren't too interested in night life, and we currently live in Baltimore so it would be great not to live in a totally run down area - up and coming (progressive) areas would be nice.

Either way, any info or assistance would be appreciated. Neither of us have ever loved away from family so we are a bit apprehensive but completely open to change if it is for our professional and financial growth.

Thank you!
Marah

(I am typing on a phone so I apologize in advance for any typos)

I don't know why you think finding a job would be easier here for you. You have to have the job first.

What kind of job are you looking for? What kind of budget for rent do you anticipate?

Through my research, and from the feedback that I have received from prospective employers, this is what makes me feel like I have a better shot at finding employment in my field. No where in my original post did I say it would be easier.

And yes, I am well aware of the fact that I need a job before uprooting my family. I am looking for a job in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement. I also have legal/administrative experience as well.

My max would be around $900/month.

Those areas will be included in the Atlanta sub-forum and you will get more detailed info. But, everyone will still say you need to have a job, and live close to that job.

I lived in College Park and then Adelphi, MD for several years, worked in Baltimore for the last 2 (and Ft Belvoir a year before that), so my commutes took me all over up there. DC/Balt traffic doesn't even hold a candle to the nightmare that is Atlanta traffic. Seriously, the only other place I've seen traffic as bad as Atlanta (I lived in Acworth for a couple years, then Tucker) was on Rare occasion in NYC, when there was a jumper on WW bridge in DC and pretty much every time I've been in CA.

To give everyone a better hand, the more specific you can get, the better. Not just wants, but needs, would like to haves, boy that'd the be the sprinkle topping... the longer the list, the more specific the suggestions. The shorter the list, the more general.
