If you are looking to live close to a hospital Lawrenceville is where the Gwinnett Medical Center is located. I think that they are in the process of getting approved as an open heart surgery center too. Dacula is not as congested (yet) as Lawrenceville has become over the past several years, but it is quickly building up. Depending on traffic it can take anywhere from 12 to 35 minutes to get to the hospital from Dacula. The community is very friendly and has a very large Baptist population. Hebron Baptist Church and Schools comprises a large section of Dacula.
LOTS of rentals available right now. I think folks are trying to move and can't sell due to the market. (Although, we just sold our house after being listed for 1 day). There are several small shopping centers being built around which will be providing new jobs, Mall of GA is 10 minutes away, They are building a new stadium for the relocation of the AAA Richmond Braves Team to Gwinnett - Set to open in 2009. Lots of folks commute closer in to town, but the traffic is pretty terrible.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies...I heard so much about dacula and the mall. I am so use to commuting less than half ahour by car to work and to think about driving 1 hour would be something I have to get use to it. How is the job market? I work as a secretay here in fla. I am bilingual if that would be a plus. But, things just keep on getting worse... everything seems to go up except salary. How much approx. would be a 2 bedroom apts. vs. a 2 bedroom home? In either dacula or lawrenceville? Any ideas?
